"From the Land to the Lake," the Henry Sheldon Museum's first online learning kit, offers web access to articles, lessons, primary source materials and other resources supporting a place-based curriculum focused on the historical relationships between people and water in the Champlain Valley. This rich subject area lends itself to extended study through a variety of disciplines.
Four articles, covering Natural History, Agriculture, Transportation and Waterpower, provide background information on the dynamic relationship between the Lake, its waterways and its settlers. Links to appropriate lessons and resources are provided in each article; indexes of Lessons, Related Readings and the Resource Kit can also be reached through the main navigation menu.
"From the Land to the Lake" was developed 2003 – 2005 by Anne Callahan and Susan Peden, through the generous support of the South Lake Champlain Trust, Inc.
