  • Henry Sheldon Museum One Park Street Middlebury, VT 05753 United States (map)

The trains are rolling down the tracks at the

Henry Sheldon Museum!

Friday, November 24th - Saturday, January 13th

Engineers are running the trains: Wednesday - Saturday 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm & Special Events

The elaborate Lionel train layout at the Henry Sheldon Museum in Middlebury, Vermont is an annual tradition, delighting all ages. The assemblage stands three levels high, with tracks running Lionel O gauge trains, Lionel 027 gauge trains, and an upper track running HO trains. The layout includes a backdrop of the Green Mountains painted by local artist Gayl Braisted, an operating gondola ski lift, skiers, snowboarders, and rock climbers, and bicyclists.

In recognition of the 30th Anniversary of the train layout, there will be a commemorative exhibit featuring Middlebury railroad history, Henry Sheldon’s connection to the Rutland & Burlington Railroad & the history of the model trains at the Sheldon Museum. Fun new additions include a new bascule (drawbridge) bridge on the tracks, a Lionel train set raffle and a hands-on train table for kids brought to us by Maple Landmark.

Regular Museum admission applies to train visits. Free admission to the Museum during our Open House & Midd Night Stroll events. See full events calendar for details.
